Tom

Tom, played by Oliver Zetterstrom, is an 11-year-old boy who goes to a posh boys school.
His life dramatically changes when he's sent to Lord Funt hospital after banging his head during a cricket match.
Every night he ends up going on magical adventures with a group of children who call themselves The Midnight Gang.
Amber

Amber, 12, played by India Mia Brown, is the unofficial leader of The Midnight Gang.
She ended up in hospital after breaking both her arms and legs.
Her dream is to be a world famous explorer.
Robin

Robin, 12, is blind and plays the trumpet.
He wants to be a famous composer when he's older.
He's played by Josh Gottlieb in the BBC adaptation.
George

George, 11, played by Jordan Cramond, is a chubby boy from London's East End.
He's in hospital to have his tonsils out.
His biggest wish is to be able to fly like a superhero.
Sally

Sally, 10, played by Zaris-Angel Hator is the youngest child on the ward.
She's got some unidentified illness.
Even though she's the sweetest, kindest girl in the hospital none of the others talk to her.
Matron

Matron is the fearsome disciplinarian at Lord Funt hospital.
She rules with an iron fist and enforces the rules such as "No chocolates!" and "No talking after lights out!"
She's played by Haydn Gwynne in the BBC adaptation.
Headmaster

The strict Headmaster of Tom's school is played by David Walliams himself.
He's keen for Tom to get back to school as soon as possible.
Dr Luppers

Dr Luppers is a bumbling and nervous character.
In the adaptation he's played by Amit Shah.
Porter

Porter is a lonely but kindly figure.
No one knows his real name.

Tootsie is the hospital cook.
